Speaking about that Indian place in the mall it had me thinking about something that recently happened in Harlem on 125th street. (background: Harlem, NY is a predominately black neighborhood in uptown Manhattan below Upper Manhattan but above Central Park by about 10 blocks or so.)
Recently, (a few months ago) Red Lobster established a chain there. I love Red Lobster, especially with their biscuits, but this one in particular slapped an illegal mandatory 18% gratuity to every bill regardless of service (NYC laws ONLY allow a mandatory tip to be 15% maximum).
Now why would they do that?

Gonna have to research this one. No dice!

No Vietnamese Ever Called Me Nigger: Wise words of the former world-famous professional boxer Muhammad Ali. In an era defined by endless war—when he was drafted and was told that he must fight the communists—his reply was, “No Vietnamese ever called me a nigger”. Consequently, Ali was stripped of his title, expelled from boxing and sentenced to five years in prison.

This is called humanity

I have nothing to say on this, these people are the pinnacle of human compassion, and that is all there is to it.

Japan has an amazing sense of community and honor.

Wow

"MODERN DAY LYNCHINGS"
Kody (Pretty Boy) Ingham (pictured above) was found hanging from a tree in front of his white girlfriends house on July 15, 2013 (the same night as the George Zimmerman verdict) in Athens, Texas. it was chalked up as a suicide and no investigation ensued, even though two hours prior he called his mother to pick him up from the site he died at. no newspaper article, just a four sentence obituary in the local papers and his family has been trying hard to make any mainstream news channel blow up the story to find the killers.
Roy Veal was found hanging in Woodville, Mississippi in 2004. he originally lived in Seattle and went to his mother’s home in Woodville to help her fight for the rights to their family land against a white man. Oil had been found underneath the land.
Roy’s head was covered with a pillow case and burned papers of the documented proof he had to prove his mothers’ ownership were found burned at his feet. He was later found hanging from a tree. His death was ruled a suicide.
His family is still trying to get attention for the case
Reynard Johnson, 17, was found hanging from a tree on his front lawn on June 16, 2000 in Kokomo, Mississippi. His death was ruled a suicide even though the belt around his neck was not his. Authorities said since no hate group left a message by the body, there was nothing to investigate. Family members said the motive was his relationship with a white girl, he was constantly being harassed because of this.

Rocking the symphony: How young black musicians are changing the face of classical music

In most respects, it’s like any other musical tournament. But the Sphinx Competition is open only to young black and Latino string players of the highest caliber. Its mission is to groom stars and to change the look and culture of classical music. After a half-century of desegregation in performance, U.S. orchestras are still overwhelmingly white — though increasingly Asian. A mere 4 percent of orchestra members are either African-American or Latino.

CHUUUCHH!!!! Big Business!!!
Post by KingKwajo

"African-American children with autism are being diagnosed almost two years later than children of any other ethnic group [in the United States], holding up their treatment, and in turn, their quality of life, according to research.

When white children were misdiagnosed with autism they were usually told they had ADHD, but Mandell discovered that Black autistic children were told they had things like psychoses, mental retardation or selective mutism. This, along with the fear that Black parents have of reporting their child’s behavioral issues due to the fact that their children are removed from the home as a result more often, makes it hard for Black children with autism to get the treatment that they need."

my first diagnosis was a psychotic disorder btw

(via soflyniggaswannastalkme)

But lets keep pretending doctors know everything and never fuck up or hold prejudices that make the diagnoses they give wrong.

(via fatbodypolitics)

This happened to my brother and noooow I know why. Nobody even tried until he was twelve and then they kept trying to diagnose him as pre-psychotic and my mom was like “no” and then they just put him in special needs for a year because THAT’S PROBABLY WHAT HE NEEDS even though he’d already been diagnosed with Asperger’s.

Lemme take another moment to reiterate that racism =/= hurt feelings.
